I enjoyed it! Liked the Texas characters being in Texas myself and enjoyed the story. It was believable with a mystical feel to it. The author places you in the story and makes you feel as if you're there. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good story with great characters!
Aging creative parents and their talented teenagers cope with each other on journeys from frustration to acceptance and renewal. Along the way, old friends and relatives provide support, and the reader gets a taste of cross-country travel, dance contests, the world of street artists, a butterfly sanctuary, and tai chi.
"Metamorphosis" is the portrait of a family. Personal fears and conflicts are resolved to hopes and acceptance by undeniable love. In reading, you will witness the transformation of the central character as she emerges in radiance from her chrysalis of self doubt. You will know and love each character - father, mother, teenage children, and of course, the butterflies.
Sombras del Pasado Metamorphosis is the compelling sequel to Sombras del Pasado Shadows of the Past. Even though it is stand-alone, if you’ve read the first book, you will be fascinated by how much Lillie and Shane’s adoptive children take after their parents, demonstrating that, at times, Nurture can overcome Nature (my favorite parts). In addition, you will follow Lillie’s journey to understand that when her family looks at her, they don’t see what she sees when she looks in the mirror (Age); all they see is “Hon/Mom/Mommy†(Inner Beauty). As a bonus, enjoy the butterflies, the choreography and the great editing!
I enjoyed this book mainly because I like the characters. They all enjoy life even though they have their problems. I relate to Lillie since she is aging and we mostly all want to remain attractive and physically fit. All of the actions and characters effortlessly carry on in a believable manner. There is a mystique about some of the situations that I liked. The parents behave like parents should. They respect their children and believe in them. The butterflies added an enjoyable aspect to the story.
This sweet family story is a sequel to Sombras del Pasado Shadows of the Past. In a way the shadows are still there, but Lillie and Shane are coming out from beneath them with the happiness they have found together, and the help of their lively adopted children, Dagny and Sawyer. Once again, dance plays a large part in the action, as does art in the form of graffiti, but this time Sawyer's rather than Shane's. Behind all this interesting activity lies a deeper issue - that of facing up to growing older as our children grow up. And behind it all flutter the blue Morphos, the descendants of the original magical butterfly that accompanied Shane to his date with destiny in the form of Lillie, the love of his life. The description of how to care for these lovely creatures made me wish for a butterfly sanctuary of my own, but I contented myself with dwelling for a little while in the peaceful sanctuary of this gentle story.
