Now, seven year's later, she's returned with her daughter to run the diner left to her by her late grandmother. Can Shelby and the town let bygones be bygones? Can Shelby trust that God knows what is best for her as she is drawn back into caring for her first love?

Blake Harvey is riddled with guilt over his part in Shelby leaving town years ago. Can she forgive him? Can he accept her forgiveness if it's given and make amends to his past treatment of her?

Finding A Way Home Again edition by Cynthia Hickey Religion Spirituality eBooks

Shelby Jenkins left her childhood town pressured by narrowed minded citizens who wouldn't believe she'd been raped. Seven years later, accompanied by her daughter Sky, she returns and finds she's no more accepted than before. Most of the town people won't believe she'd been violated by the captain of the football team. Her only friend is Blake Harvey, the high school principal who's still in love with her after all these years.

Cynthia Hickey places her characters in one dilemma after another, keeping me turning the pages.

Finding A Way Home Again edition by Cynthia Hickey Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This is a good read about a woman returning home after seven years with her daughter and has her faith tested
There are more holes in this story than in a sieve. I marked many of them, just in case the author wants a list. It could also greatly profit from some solid proofreading and editing. I know sometimes one needs to give an author a bit of leeway when it comes to plot, especially in a suspense novel, but the level to which one needs to suspend disbelief in this book is ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
This is one of the best books I have read, and I've read many thousands. After starting it, I couldn't put it down. This is a MUST READ!
Shelby Jenkins had a reputation of being wild in high school, so when she ended up pregnant by the son of a wealthy family no one believed her claim of rape, not even her boyfriend or family. With her grandmother’s death, she is back to run the café. Can old wounds be healed and wrong corrected, or is prejudice in the town still too strong?

Blake Harvey still loves Shelby, despite the past. Now that he’s had time to think and matured, he realizes she had told the truth all those years ago. But will she ever forgive him for his lack of trust and give him another chance?

I loved the first half of the book, despite the back and forth indecisiveness, Shelby’s feelings of persecution, and the mistakes. However, the second half of the book included plot points that I could have done without or didn’t make logical sense to me. For example, I had no desire to be drawn into a rape scene, even if it wasn’t described. In addition, Blake had almost punched Ross for talking with Shelby and upsetting her, (spoiler -> but he comes just after Ross had raped her again, confronts him, and does nothing). Blake and Shelby also gathered up evidence from Ross’s shed that would incriminate him and puts into a garbage bag to take to the police department. Even I know you don’t disturb evidence, and their prints would have been all over it. Some of the mistakes include “he” for “her,” “the Hopkins’ “ for the plural family and not possessive, “more quiet” for “quieter,” “quick” for “quickly,” “her and Tanya” for “she and Tanya,” “dreams” for “trees,” and “Russ” for “Blake.” Despite all this, I did like the novel, and the ending was very good.
The h was raped about 7 years ago by the smarmy boy about town that all the girls want. The h was a little wild so she's branded a slut by EVERYBODY. Everybody includes her TSTL boyfriend, her freacking witch on wheels of a sister, her mother. The only two who threw her a bone, grandmother and father, are dead. Of course.

She stupidly comes back to town and even more stupidly stays despite her witch of a sister being nasty, her weak ex mooning over, townspeople sneering, and her rapist making goo goo eyes at her. She re-opens her grandmother's diner that for some reason takes off despite being the town pariah. Spoiler coming!! Her rapist RAPES HER AGAIN. SHE DOES NOT EVEN CALL THE POLICE!!!! She takes a hot shower, and mentally prepares for it to happen again as she doesn't want to lose her daughter. Oh okay. She does go to church with her bruises because she wants to SHOW everyone what the rapist/homeboy is like. He's there with own bruises looking smug.

Let's recount these issues you have bruises and scratches; you had semen for DNA; he has bruises and scratches, but you decide not to go to the police because his family "owns" them. Even the fictional policeman eye-rolled at that.

Luckily, the jerk dies, but HE has to do even that. Suicide by fire. Did I mention he's a pyro too?

I am not sure what genre this is filed under, but the actions of the heroine are simply too insulting. I hate to rant and rave about an author's work like this, but come on.
An ok book but not great. I didn't like some parts. Spoiler The rape scene really was sad and so were the pages that followed. I don't like bullies and don't really want to read about them and about dishonest police. Not my type of book!
Awesome book
